It is easy to take the Italian trains and arrive in Perugia and rent a car.

The road network is average but the highways are of good quality

Less than 2 hours away you can easily swim in the warm and beautiful Adriatic Sea near Ancona or go up to Rimini. The Mediterranean is also accessible but it will take at least 3.5 hours. There are many lakes, the most famous of which is Lake Trasimeno, 40 minutes from the vacation home.
